After 3K miles I had to replace the Cooper 2XS, to put it nicely they were not the tires for me. I had planned on the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires but I started seeing the articles and reviews for the Cooper RS3’s, I was hesitant at first but when I read Roush had spent 18 months working on these tires with Cooper specifically for the Roush Mustangs, and the fact that Roush and Cooper invited a bunch of Car Magazine editors to test them and they all loved them it was in stone for me. I like the look of the RS3’s as they have large center ribs, very few side groves and rolled edges instead of the block edges for the 2XS. I just got them put on a few hrs ago and I believe in breaking tires in so I’m not beating on them yet, but I did come home the back way so I could hit my S turns that I love to play on, first impression was I have been through these same turns a hundred times but this time when I went through there I at first over corrected coming up out of the corner, these tires are a ton more responsive, I believe due to the aggressive tread and the fact these tires have some serious sidewalls which is what I did not like on the 2XS, I turned around and went back through but this time I let the car slide out a little further going into the second part of the S, something I never felt confident doing with the 2XS’s, wow what a difference. I can’t wait till we have a 85 deg day here in Albq so these things can really stick but for now I’m impressed with the new Cooper RS3’s.

No problem!
The sun was out yesterd here in Albq and it got into the 50’s by noon so I took another ride in the Roush. While the RS3’s don’t like cold roads as “ANY” Ultra Performance tire, they would chirp when I changed gears, the 2XS’s would have just slipped. We will be having snow all week so maybe I will take her out and see how they do in snow ;) I’m really looking forward to Spring because I have just about pushed the envelope to driving the Roush, I really do hate putting her away for Winter.
