Just a word of caution. I ordered the new 511 8 stack fuel injected crate motor for my CSX cobra. My dealer also order 4 other identical motors and every one has had multiple problems. Specifically, #1 after installation it was discovered that the motor does not clear the hood with the air filters attached and no one apparently makes one to fit.
That was minor compared to what came next.
#2 I took delivery of the completed car on July 11th. The next day the idle would not stay consistent and the engine was misfiring above 4000 rpm. After a grand total of 140 miles driven, the car was put back in the shop where it has been for 2 weeks today. It had to be sent to a tuning shop but
#3 they could not access the PCM becuase the password wouldn't work. After 10 days Roush did get the password.
#4The rear engine seal is leaking ( and also leaking on at least 3 of the other identical motors) but no response form Roush to approve the warranty work.
Now #5 the dealer just called me to say that the car wouldn't start and that they msy have to replace the starter AND the flywheel since there were teeth broken off on the flywheel.
I contacted Roush myself and hope to hear back from one of the engineers or someone thta can tell me how I can spend $39000 for an engine that has this many problems after 3 days and 150 miles. I am not counting the camshaft, crank and fuel pump that had to be replaced before I ever took possesion of the car.
Soory for the length of this but I feel teh need to advise other before they purchase this motor. I think maybe it was put out too soon.
