Just a word of caution. I ordered the new 511 8 stack fuel injected crate motor for my CSX cobra. My dealer also order 4 other identical motors and every one has had multiple problems. Specifically, #1 after installation it was discovered that the motor does not clear the hood with the air filters attached and no one apparently makes one to fit.

That was minor compared to what came next.

#2 I took delivery of the completed car on July 11th. The next day the idle would not stay consistent and the engine was misfiring above 4000 rpm. After a grand total of 140 miles driven, the car was put back in the shop where it has been for 2 weeks today. It had to be sent to a tuning shop but

#3 they could not access the PCM becuase the password wouldn't work. After 10 days Roush did get the password.

#4The rear engine seal is leaking ( and also leaking on at least 3 of the other identical motors) but no response form Roush to approve the warranty work.

Now #5 the dealer just called me to say that the car wouldn't start and that they msy have to replace the starter AND the flywheel since there were teeth broken off on the flywheel.

I contacted Roush myself and hope to hear back from one of the engineers or someone thta can tell me how I can spend $39000 for an engine that has this many problems after 3 days and 150 miles. I am not counting the camshaft, crank and fuel pump that had to be replaced before I ever took possesion of the car.

Soory for the length of this but I feel teh need to advise other before they purchase this motor. I think maybe it was put out too soon.

Just a follow up. As soon as Ifinished typing and had posted thsi I did receive a call from one of the Roush Engineers (Thanks John) who is going to help me try to get to the bottom of this. We will see. Ijsut want to be able to engine the car I purchased with my life savings.

So far not so good. It has now been 2 1/2 weeks since the car went into the shop. The dealer has left at least 3 messages for Michelle in Warrantly between thursday and today with no response. The engineer that last week said he would call the dealer to discuss it never did. I left a not too nice message for Michelle in Warranty as well as the engineer about why it is taking almost 3 weeks to approve #1 coolant leak, oil leak from the rear seal, a flywheel missing teeth, and lastly the tuning to fix the EFI cannot be done until the other work is. The car is gathering dust at the dealer until they hear back from Roush.

Thanks Carol for your help. Todd called today and helped me get the ball rolling getting parts to Anthem to get my car back on the road.

Todd had not heard anything until your call and I left a msg last night in the general mailbox. The parts (flywheel, starter, rear seal) are on their way to my dealer and the coolant leak and filters are still being worked on. Todd expressed his apology for lack of communication and seems honestly committed to helping get this resolved. It seems that although it had a couple years of development, this being the first injected 511 it maybe had a few more bugs that could of been worked out before being released but I understand that. Now the real question will be whether or not it can be adjusted for the twin superchargers I had planned to be put on it in the next few months. Time will tell. Right now I am just anxious to be able to get it back on on the road and enjoy it.

Thanks again Carol
