I had a Roush Charger installed in my 2008 GT/CS. I have the installation instructions from the Ford Dealer who installed the charger but I do not have any information for Maintenance. Does the Roush charger need maintenance, and if so, is there a manual that I should have received?

?
Shouldn't the supercharger oil be changed around 50,000 miles as in the 03-04 Cobra?
I say this because I traded mine at 81,000 and I changed the oil around 50,000. Forget who told me that was about as long as you wanted to keep it in there. REALLY stunk at that.

Then here is a question that I will bring up. We all know just how well the CAI filter cleans the air that passes through it. Know I can pretty much say that no body has ever changed there filter from Roush stock to a better filtration system when they are just doing the daily driving. The Roush air filter pretty much lets everything in but the large bugs. If you were to take off your CAI at the Throttle Body you would see that the butterfly's are filthy. Now I ask, What do the Twin Screws inside the Rousshcharger look like. I wondered. I took off my R/C to answer that fact finding mission. They were filthy. I have 20 K on my R/C since its install. I cleaned it up with carb cleaner. I am now pushing the boost of day one. (Side note I just happen to have a new gasket to put on with the reinstall.) I ask this finale question. Is there a better way to 1. prevent this build up and 2. clean this off in a maintenance schedule? I know what I will do. What is your measures?

If you want the official standing of Roush then look in the manual it states no maintanence required.
If you wish to do your own at your own intervals that is your personal preference and right.
I have roughly 15 k on mine and don't feel the need for any maintanence on the S/c at this time.;)

First of all this was an open question. I do understand that Roush says "no maintenance required" they say that for allot of things (CYA). I was just bringing up a thought for us owners that use the product. Roush has no position on the subject because thy don't own the car. You do. They sold it and thats that. You are required to figure out the rest. So my answer is Lets figure out the rest. We know that they will require maintenance. Roush says no, but do we not have that little person on our shoulder that says HUMMMM. This is a forum for thoughts. My fact finding mission say otherwise. Can we not find solutions to help Roush in our daily use of the product? Can we help our owners on questions that just say HUMMMM.

#8528, your fact finding mission has revealed some interesting results! I have seen threads discussing installing oil separators for the s/c. Could this blow by be contributing to your filthy screws? I haven't gone for a CAI yet, but have installed a K&N filter in the stock air box, hoping for not only better flow but better filtration than the paper one that comes from Ford. I'll be curious to see what my TB looks like @ 10k or 20k.

hey all. I am not here to spread H&D. When this subject came up I was starting to get concerned about this very subject. I had noticed that my S?C was making a different operating noise than when I first installed it. Let place some of my car's history here. This is my second S/C from Roush. My first one was less than 3000 miles old and the seals inside the Twin screws gave way and the vacum in the intake started to suck all the oil out of the S/C. The only way I noticed this was a very small oil stain around the gasket between the S/C and the intercooler. If I did not have had that stain and with out a Maintanece program I would have been running on no oil and a blown S/C eventualy. I took off the S/C and found a mess in my intake. Roush warrentied it out and I installed a new one. So now lately I been hearing a different kind of groan of the twin screws turning against each other while running. I took it apart and found the screws to be very dirty. I cleaned then off and put it back together. The noise went away and the boost got better. When this thread came up I am still wondering how to prevent this and what kind of a maintanence program short of dismantaling the S/C from the intercooler. This is only why I am here on this thread to see if others have found this same thing or have they found a maintanece program that they have adopted for themselves. I am only here for information. In the past we just sprayed carb cleaner down the troat of the carb to clean out the dirt and deposits. So does anybody have any new ideas?

OK this works extremely well for TB so I would say yes for your S/C as well take off the inlet tube and get some Seafoam spray p/n DC-14. Start the car lightly spray in opening having someone else work the throttle keeping rpms constant. Spray for about 30-45 seconds then shut off the car let sit for about 5-10 min whenyou start it up it will smoke alot this is dissolved carbon run the car briskley for 20 min till it quits smoking. This will remove all built up carbon in any engine I would assume it would clean impeller blades as well.

You know... I totaly forgot about Sea Foam. I used it about 2 years ago on my other car to get it ready for a smog check. When the Roush gets ready :)for another cleaning I will try that and then I will again open it up to see the results. This will be a good experiment. Thanks .......:)
