Roush Performance Launching New Lifestyle Club
LIVONIA, Mich. (December 9, 2009) – With more than 16,000 specialty vehicles on the roads of America, ROUSH® Performance feels the time is right to create a new, in-house lifestyle club for the owners and fans of their products. Previously, this aspect was managed by the ROUSH Owners and Enthusiasts Association (ROEA), an independent, volunteer-run organization.
The name of “The Club,” as it will temporarily be referred to, will be voted upon during the month of January. The official, chosen name will be announced in early February, with the logo unveiled shortly afterwards.
“We appreciate the efforts of the ROEA and thank them for their unwavering support and dedication. However, we came to realize that running a club and all that it takes to put on events requires much more time and resources than the dedicated volunteers of the ROEA are often able to provide. As we looked out into the future we saw an opportunity to create a new ROUSH lifestyle club that can bring our fans across the country together to participate in a variety of local and regional get-togethers as well as some national level events. The resources that we have internally offer us the ability to put together a tremendous framework for a club that will be as high-performance as the ROUSH Mustangs that we put on the street,” said Joe Thompson, ROUSH Performance vice-president & general manager.
While there are still many details to be worked through, ROUSH anticipates an annual membership to cost $35. If they choose to accept, current ROEA members will be offered membership into “The Club” with proof of valid membership along with some personal information such as name, address, and contact details.
“The goal of ‘The Club’ is to create a forum of fun, information, and events,” Thompson explained. “There will be a high level of interaction with ROUSH employees, some exciting activities each year, as well as an open forum for information about the vehicles, parts, engines, and other things that make up the ROUSH Performance universe. This is a club that will be for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts, and filled with enthusiastic people.”
To help answer the many questions people will have about “The Club” and its goals, ROUSH will be hosting a live webcast on December 15 at 8 p.m. (Eastern). During this forum, anyone interested in learning more is invited to log on, watch the presentation, and ask questions. Specific details on the webcast will be posted on ROUSH Performance - Lifestyle Club shortly. It is anticipated that this type of open “town hall” meeting will be held several times each year for club members to discuss upcoming events, answer questions, and continue the flow of information.
While a dedicated website will be developed once the name has been voted upon, for now people can visit ROUSH Performance - Lifestyle Club for more details. Membership sign-ups will begin in early January, 2010.
Based in Livonia, Mich., “The Art of Performance Engineering” takes place at ROUSH Performance. To get a look behind the scenes at what goes on at ROUSH and how the vehicles are designed, manufactured and produced logon to ROUSH Performance - ROUSHtv. Yep, I can only hope that Roush Performance would reach out to some of the ROEA Board Members for a solid transition plan.

Where is it the end of the road for the ROEA. Have some faith in the people you elected to keep this club alive. Everyone still has their memberships intact and the new board is moving forward in planning events for the new year. I was given a history lesson today and RPP has tried this in the past and failed at it, that is how the ROEA came to be.Maybe this time will be different but dont forget that RPP is a private company under the same economic decline as all of the other automakers.

I will not turn my back on and will support the ROEA as long as it continues to exist, however I will have to take advantage of the free one year membership being offered to us. I don't see it as jumping ship, I just see it as joining another "club". Since we have come this far hopefully RPP will take notice and change their mind but after this official announcement it appears they are moving ahead. We all need to be online for the webcast to see what RPP is offering and the Q&A session afterward to voice our concerns.

I am interested to hear their plan and how it is going to be setup and managed. Are they creating jobs within RPP to handle this task?
On the edge of my seat,
Deb

Merlyn, looks like I didn't read enough. I too will take advantage of a free membership. We do own Roush cars and need to understand what RPP wants to do.

Merlyn
I dont see there being a problem taking part in the free membership to see what RPP is offering but i have a feeling that most people are going to abandon ship and go running over to the RPP Club.

Just an FYI for those whom haven't been around for the history, Roush tried a club prior to the existance of the ROEA.
Which club do you see here?

Not familar with this terminology and the cobra is Hibernating 6 inches of snow last night!
Dave one note members such as yourself with older vehicles should be asking ROUSH what you do when your older model is in need of repair part for say the supercharger or the alcon brakes and rotors that are not being produced anymore.
How about the leather seats once worn out, you can not get authentic Roush made interiors for the older models and with the 2010's out the 05-09's will be next in the lineage of those vehicles that are not supported for parts.
The ROEA should be aiding the membership in sourcing how to rebuild and restore these cars to orignals such as the MCA and other National organizations do for their perspective vehicles represented.
I have hopes that the new leadership of the ROEA will perform this task.

Good points Marc...and I've actually been thinking about just that...A while back I purchased a new front fascia...I do need to get some miscellaneous stuff too. I have the PBR brakes on the Roush...I am sure there will be a roll and void that the "NEW" ROEA will be able to fill...it will just be outside "official" ROUSH channels.

Exactlly and this may actually be benificial to the members as these points that need to be addressed on resto parts maybe best persued from outside the realm of the corporation for which built them.
The independent club might be better situated to perform such a task.

It's going to be interesting to hear RPP's "vision" for a NEW Club. From that point the ROEA can move forward. Hopefully the ROEA won't be shut out. so how much road time did the Cobra get this season?

I registered as I want to hear from them. I am not personally for or against what they are doing just yet.
I have concerns about how they have dealt with the ROEA in this so far and that has been voiced to the powers that be at RP. But, at the end of the day they can do whatever they want whether it is fair or unfair. They have made it clear to this point that we have nothing to say in the matter because they didn't ask. It does not mean they aren't going to create something good, but it will be their creation, not the enthuisast's.
On the flip side of it I understand why they want to own and operate their own club. I just hope they have a long term committment to what they are planning. It would be a tragedy to put the ROEA out of business and then in 2-3 years they decide running a club really sucks and shut it all down. So in that way I hope that the ROEA as it exists today will find the will and passion to continue on and build on the one thing that will separate it from a company run club,.....that it is an independent organization. In that way I will be here to help support the ROEA in any way I can with the resources I have in FnSweet.

As long as the devoted member is promoting and actively involved in the ROEA and all it performs and achieves, The ROEA will prosper and be a viable Enthusiast club for the Enthusiast and by the Enthusiast!
This club is an independent club thus the membership will have a say in how the vision and focus of the club and it's endeavors are promoted or followed thru.
The people at the Helm of the ROEA are non paid non partisan individuals, at the end of the day when the lights go out no one person collects a pay check on what the ROEA does or does not carry out.
Therefore the ROEA members stand to personaly receive a better end result now in the future as well as those who own a late model that is non supported from the manufacturer any longer.
Those whom own a 95-98 Roush Product are only to painfully aware of the fact the manufacturer is a forward looking company and not rearwards. There is no manufacturer support for these model years from them and the Enthusiast has to look elswhere for help and understanding. I envision the ROEA to be that entity!
This group will soon if not already move to the model years of 99-04 as well and continue to grow for each and every model year produced.
People The ROEA is your Enthusiast Club you own it no one else!
Marc Nutter
Charter Member #7 ROEA
Marc, I like the focus and the vision you are laying out with an importance to the restoration and support for aging products. That is and will be a very important thing in the future.
I have to admit that one of the reasons I let my 2001 Stage 3 go was that I was afraid that if I didnt buy a set of all the ROUSH parts that made up the car and store them away, that I would be up the creek someday if I got in a crash or something just broke. The side exhaust tips, front fascia and wheels all come to mind. Now they are already getting unattainable at any price. I think there are a lot of those people out there like me who will want or need help and a resource to bring them together with others who can help them.

Along those lines...I have already started stocking up...front fascia is in the attic primed and painted...now to source out the PBR brakes...and those leather seats...

I'd be afraid the heat of an attic would deform the plastic parts...
